Our Facility
The Virginia Hills Swim Club is located at 6500 Virginia Hills Pool Drive, Alexandria VA 22306 in the Virginia Hills and Groveton neighborhood of Alexandria. We are uniquely nestled among the rolling hills and wooded backdrop of Franconia District Park. Our pool features a 25m course with 6 lanes.
Parking
Our parking lot is reserved for Visiting Teams for A Meets. If the lot is filled for A or B Meets, parking along Virginia Hills Pool Drive is permitted. If you must park on the streets of the neighborhood, please be respectful of not blocking residential driveways. You can also park at the Virginia Hills Administrative Center (former school) parking lot about one block away at 6520 Diana Lane.
Visiting Team Area
We reserve the large grass area on the far side of the pool for the visiting team. There are picnic tables with some shade, but camp chairs and shade tents are also permitted. Because it is surrounded by trees, it is recommended throwing bug repellant into your swimmer’s bag, especially if mosquitoes are particularly fond of them.
Spectator Viewing Area
Our viewing area is located on the terraced grass hill overlooking the pool. It provides a great view of the meet! Most of our spectators bring their own camp chairs, but you are also welcome to grab a deck chaise from the stacks and pull it onto the hill. Please make yourself at home! Morning meets start with shade on the hill, but become quickly sunny with the sun at your back. Evening meets can be hot and sunny until the sun goes behind the trees. Umbrellas that don’t block other spectator views are welcome. The hill can be a little slick in the morning dewy hours or after it rains, so please use caution!
While the playground and basketball court are popular attractions during regular pool hours, we close them during meets to cut down on the noise and disruptions during starts.
Snack Bar and Concessions
We maintain a basic concession stand during swim season with snacks, drinks (including coffee for morning meets), and simple food like pizza, donuts, etc. Food trucks are also scheduled for all of our home meets. Food trucks will be located in the parking lot. Check out the upcoming food truck schedule to see what is scheduled for your meet. The concession stand accepts cash and credit card.
