3 NEW BULLETS THAT NEED YOUR ATTENTION:

Tidal Wave Families with 6-14 year olds only:  The Meredith Mergler Award.

This award is named for a spirited long-time Virginia Hills swimmer. Meredith was liked and admired by parents and swimmers alike. Meredith had the ability to find the good and the funny in even the most difficult situations. This award is voted on by all the team swimmers in a secret ballot. Swimmers should vote for ONE 15-18 age group swimmer who they think is active in cheering, encouraging other members of the swim team, and is an upbeat, supportive, and spirited team leader.  If you have more than one swimmer, each swimmer can cast a vote.

You swam in 3 or more A meets AND are 13 and over:   The NVSL Division 5 Sportsmanship Award
Each year the NVSL honors one team from each Division who embodies principles of good sportsmanship.  Coaches, Team Reps and swimmers get to cast a vote for a team (other than themselves).  So, Tidal Wave swimmers – if you swam in 3 or more A meets AND are 13 and over only,  fill out this simple google form casting your vote.

ALL TIDAL WAVE SWIMMERS are eligible for :  The Annual Lip Sync Competition which is held on Saturday, July 19 – as the opening entertainment for our Team Picnic/Banquet!  Questions:  Ask Coach Micah or Rachel Moran (Avery and Julianna’s Mom).

❄️ 🏊🏼‍♂️One last thought, as the season is coming to a close, many of our swimmers are thinking about year round swimming.  Coach Katie has asked that if you are interested in this option, to talk to her first so that she can provided guidance on the different options  – and navigating the websites.

The Alexandria NCAP (Nation’s Capital Swim Club) Program (J&M Swim is the official name of the Alexandria Program) is offering a generous scholarship to one swimmer from the Virginia Hills Tidal Wave! NCAP is a year-round swim program with optional swim meets along the way. Many swimmers from the Tidal Wave swim in the program and practices are held at Franconia REC Center and (the new) Mount Vernon REC Center.

If you are interested in applying for this scholarship, please complete this J&M SWIM APPLICATION.  Applications are due by Friday, July 18 at noon.
